Back to Prague... Only as a tourist! :)

It was really interesting visiting Prague for the first time after two months. Interesting - because I saw it for the first time as a city I used to live in. I kind of had a similar feeling when I visited Nova Gorica a few weeks back, however, this small Slovenian town seams as if it was trapped in a time loop - one same day over and over again. Contrary, it was intriguing to see my good friends who didn’t let their lives follow the same rhythm, and I am very happy for them! Vlada (Serb from Pozarevac) is now going for his PhD and has become acknowledged expert in the field of Digital Signal Processing; Jan is coaching basketball 20; Nikola and Dragana just bought a new apartment and are doing a great job with their two young children, Murko and Martina are refurbishing their apartment and are expecting an offspring, Samo and SPIN (the company I used to work for in Slovenia) have developed a complete “smart house” system for households, hotels, and cruise ships and are expecting a great outcome.

Back to Prague... Prague is always overcrowded with tourists! If you don't like the crowd avoid the main attractions from 10am to midnight. Moving just a few streets away from them will give you peace and relaxation. It is even astonishing how peaceful it can be just a street or two away from the Old Town Square.

I met with a couple of very good friends of mine... ex-colleagues from Monster. It felt good knowing that we can still have fun in the same way while I lived there. I'm still laughing when I think of THE Alligator, THE Borat, THE Serb, THE Zombie, Mr. Proper!!! (Internal jokes... who knows - will understand :)

I must say that I have never had more fun with friends than with those in Prague (I’m excluding Belgrade, since it belongs to a different story…)! Thanks guys!

So... as I always have to put some irony into each post, here we go:
Since I live in Austria now, which is a member of EU and Schengen Agreement, I have a visa that allows me to go anywhere within EU without any restrictions or additional visas (FINALLY! I will post about that issue later on, when I get an urge to release some anger :). The fact is - Czech Republic is aspiring to become a member of these two, let's say, "institutions"... So, we get to the border of Austria and Czech Republic (we - since I traveled with a friend of mine, Sveta - I will be best man on his wedding. More about that in some later post). And what happens on the border is that the Czech police officer (who was, believe it or not, very polite) tells us that Austrian visa gives us only the right of transit trough Czech Republic!!! I mean "You want to be a member of EU and Schengen but you will not accept their visa?!?!?!"... Pure logic! The formula must be: 1 + 1 = cos(x * y)/Pi !!! The solution was that we could get in, but we had to get back to Austria trough some country other than Czech Republic. We decided to go back trough Slovakia, since the road is not much longer than the direct one.

I should go back to work now... Asynchronous delegates with webservices and multiple threads - here I come!!!
